Air compressor fittings and couplers

Air Compressor fittings are Quick disconnect couplers . They are the fastest, easiest, and most reliable means of joining air hose with air compressor tools, tire inflators, and blow guns.

There are two main types of air compressor couplers : Automotive and Industrial. Industrial style couplers have two striped going across the fitting, whereas the automotive style only has one. On the plug, the industrial style is slightly longer and different head than the automotive. There are two common 1/4” fittings that you will find on most compressors up to 200 Litres. The thread on both these type of fittings are the same, ¼” BSP.For the most part this is not what will interest you. It is the quick release end that there are two common types off. One is the longer British fitting and was the most common available until recently. The other is the shorter German (sometimes called Export) fitting which will work with German, Italian, Swiss and American fittings.
